Behavior Services

Behavior problems are the most common reasons why pets are surrendered. A behavior consultation is to help determine why the issue is occurring, evaluate your pets medical health, and help you manage the behavior humanely and safely. The ultimate goal for a behavior consultation is to build a stronger bond between you and your pet.

Services include:

  • Prevention - Prevention of fears, phobias, and aggression in puppies and kittens or new adults pets
  • Aggression (to people or other animals), irritability, depression or other personality changes
  • Fear
  • Inappropriate urination or defecation
  • Excessive biting or scratching and self-mutilation or any unusual, repetitive behavior.
  • Separation anxiety

For behavior consultations, a behavior history form will need to be completed before the appointment is made in order to review the history in detail. History forms can be returned to us by e-mail or US mail.

The behavior consultation usually takes about an hour. Dr Harkins- Barroso will be in touch via of phone and recheck appointments for updates, monitor progression, and answer any questions through the process.
