The diagnosis of cancer in a beloved pet can seem overwhelming. Dr FitzSimons has more than 20 years of experience treating cancer in companion animals and has completed over 100 hours of oncology-specific continuing education. He is fully committed to delivering the most up-to-date therapies to your pet.
We consult with a specialist on each case to make sure we’re making the best decisions for our patients. If our specialist recommends that a case be in the hands of a board-certified oncologist, we won’t hesitate to make the referral.
Our primary focus is to treat your pet as we would our own. This means helping your pet maintain a great quality of life, balancing any underlying conditions, and minimizing side effects.
Coordinated Care
We are equipped to deliver most chemotherapy protocols. We commonly treat lymphoma, mast cell tumors, and transitional cell carcinoma, without having to refer patients to a specialty center. We also provide post-surgical chemotherapy for hemangiosarcoma and osteosarcoma.
Working with on-site, board-certified surgeons allows us to address many cancer surgeries in our clinic while still providing excellent outcomes.
Minimizing Side Effects
Side effects of cancer therapy are always a concern. Veterinary medicine uses lower doses and less intensive treatment schedules than human medicine. Most pets we have treated for cancer over the past 20-plus years have experienced minimal-to-no side effects and have enjoyed a great quality of life during treatment.
